1.  CATC SHAPE Award Plan

Jim Holland, CATC Director and Phil Dow, Auto Body Instructor, gave an overview of the SHAPE Award Plan (Safety & Health Award for Public Employers).   Mr. Dow has been working on this plan for two years.  The SHAPE Award is for public employers and it recognizes workplace safety.  It’s through the Department of Labor and free.  It’s a voluntary program designed to maintain a safe work environment for employees and students.  CATC wanted to become involved to have a self-sustaining safety plan in the building.  The goal is to lower work injury and illness rates below the State average.  The program provides free information and training and helps us become OSHA compliant.

Motion by Jennifer Day to move the SHAPE Award Plan to the Board for approval, second by Jennifer Neumeyer, so moved 3-0.

2.  New Art Class at Cony with dual enrollment with UMA

            Attachment 1

Principal Kim Silsby and Art Teacher, Jason Morgan, presented a proposal for a new art class at Cony.  The proposal has limited expenses it can be done without additional staff.  It’s a collaboration with UMA through a grant that will pay, Robert Rainey, UMA Professor, to come onsite to teach the class.  A partnership was formed with CATC to use their cart of computers and the class will be there for first period.  By taking this course, students will receive 3 UMA credits in art.

Motion by Jennifer Day to move to the Board for approval, second by Jennifer Neumeyer, so moved 3-0.

3.  New LAU Plan

Donna Madore explained that the LAU Plan is federally mandated and is needed for our ESL population.  It will be part of our Comprehensive Education Plan.  The district has been working on this plan for the past two years.
