BASKET-MAKING FOR BEGINNERS

LEMAY, MARÉ

Come join in the fun as we create baskets. During this course we will make a wine basket and a mitten basket. Please plan on bringing a bucket, 12 spring-type clothes pins, towel, pencil, a tape measure, sharp cutters, spray bottle, and an awl. Fees for the basket kits will be collected by the instructor at the first class.

CHOCOLATE APPRECIATION CLASS

In this class we will learn about the variations of taste and texture in different types and grades of chocolate.  We will discover the basics of handling chocolate and cooking with chocolate. Finally, we will prepare several chocolate inspired recipes to be shared among the class.

Are you looking for an outlet for your creativity? Join us for one of our three one-night sessions on beading. We will be making items you can keep for yourself or give as gifts. There will be a different project each week. We’ll supply the materials and tools you’ll need.

LEARN TO KNIT/EXPAND YOUR SKILLS

MCKELVEY, PAMELA

Beginning knitters: Learn to cast-on, knit, purl, cast-off as well as make a dish cloth and chemo cap. Intermediate knitters: Get help with a project, learn to make socks, knit cables, popcorns, lace stitches and to carry other colors of yarn. If you have questions, I'll get the answers! NOTE: There is an emphasis on GAUGE for fit.

SILVER JEWELRY MAKING

HARTWELL, PENNY FULLER

Learn a unique method of creating silver jewelry. We'll be using 99.9% pure silver clay (won't tarnish!) to create stunning earrings, pendants and rings. Molds will be found in every day items. Please be prepared to pay the instructor $60 for supplies at the first class.

STAINED GLASS

Learn the elements of copper-foil stained glass design, how to cut glass, solder, assemble, and finish a piece. You will be using the instructor's tools at the first class. Projects and materials needed will be discussed at that time.

ACRYLIC PAINTING

PUTNAM, CAROLINE

Learn about the materials of acrylic painting and how to create what you want with them. The focus will be on the versatility of the medium. We will be painting on various surfaces including papers, wood, and canvas using various techniques of priming, glazing, texturing and whatever one would be inspired to do - all in informal, hands-on sessions where students are encouraged to be artists with their own vision and expression. Subject matter is personal, so bring what objects or pictures you need to help yourself create your statement in acrylic. Students at any level of ability are welcome.

OIL PAINTING

Learn about the materials of traditional oil painting and how to create what you want with them. Experience the building of a painting the way the masters built them - from under painting to finished product. Learn about alla prima painting, glazing, pigment properties, colors and how they interact - all in the informal, hands-on sessions where students are encouraged to be artists with their own vision and expression. Subject matter is personal, so bring what objects or

pictures you need to help yourself create your statement in oil. Students at any level of ability are welcome.
