This is beginning instruction for accounting. The course covers sold proprietorships and partnerships in a 5 journal; 3 ledger accounting system. All accounting principles (including journalizing in the 5 journals; posting to the general and subsidiary ledgers; adjusting and closing entries at the end of a fiscal period; financial statement preparation of balance sheets, owners' equity statements, and income statements; cash control systems; and payroll accounting are presented. The course covers the first 17 chapters of the Accounting I text.
This course may be used toward the Bookkeeping/Accounting and Office Assistant Certificates.

INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTERS

KEYBOARDING I & II

Learn how to type using Windows XP and Microsoft Word for Windows software. The first half of the semester will focus on learning the keyboard and basic computer functions; while the second half will focus on typing tests and building speed and accuracy. MEDICAL OFFICE FORMS & PRACTICE

MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY

Introduction to Excel 2003 provides students with the fundamental skills that are necessary to use Excel 2003 on a daily basis in their workplace or at home. The course includes an introduction to electronic spreadsheets and how they are used, the difference between text, numbers, and calculations in Excel, creating and using formulas, right and wrong ways to enter a formula (and why), copying and pasting, drag-and-drop editing, formatting, printing, working
with columns and rows, absolute references, and an introduction to charts. This course will teach you how Excel thinks and enable you to understand the framework of the program enough to be able to use it and solve problems independently. Basic knowledge of computers and keyboarding required.
