In The Beginning...

         In 1892 a group of Cony High School students who were determined to have a football team, organized the "Chizzle Wizzle Association" to raise the needed money. Little did these pioneers know when they produced that first show that they were carving a niche for themselves in the history of our school and our city. Chizzle Wizzle is now a time honored Augusta tradition.

    The student organizers of this event overcame many obstacles on the way to staging that first show. The Augusta Board of Education ruled that it was improper for Cony High School to give a public entertainment for money; therefore, the students could neither use the school name, nor its facilities. Undaunted, the students went ahead independently, naming their show "CHIZZLE WIZZLE" after a popular school cheer;

"Chizzle Wizzle! Chizzle Wizzle!
Sis-Boom-Bah!
Cony High! Cony High!
Rah! Rah! Rah!"
