The library media program supports the Cony High School mission by preparing our students to be lifelong, independent learners. Our students learn to locate, evaluate and communicate information; skills which are necessary for success in school, work and everyday life. The library is an integral part of the total educational curriculum. We are providing our students with the skills to be effective users of information, and promoting an enjoyment and love of literature.
DESCRIPTION:
The Library Media Center serves approximately 1000 students, grades 9-12, their faculty and the Augusta community. Our resources are selected to support the curriculum and to provide recreational reading.
In a unique educational partnership, Cony High School and the Augusta Public Schools have formed an alliance with Lithgow Public Library to take advantage of the new technologies. The DRA MultiLIS library automation system will enable our high school students not only to access and search Cony's collection, but also the holdings of Lithgow and all the Augusta Public School libraries. This cooperative project will increase and improve informational services for our students. The sharing of resources will benefit our school and the Augusta community as we look toward the future.
