Yes, garbage! What most people consider garbage, we’re saving at Gilbert. Old inkjet cartridges, soup label UPCs, old cell phones, Hood milk bottle caps, Box Tops coupons & much more. Collect this ‘garbage’ and send it to Gilbert with your child. We’ll turn it to ‘gold’. The following is a list of fundraising programs we are working with to earn money, which helps support many of Gilbert’s needs: computer, office & classroom supplies, books, balls & more. Please read through each program, save and send us what you can, then see what we can do with your ‘garbage’!

Box Tops 4 Education is our biggest & most fun ‘garbage collecting’ fundraiser! There are 4 ways to help Gilbert earn money with the Box Tops 4 Education Program:

1. Clipping the Box Tops Coupons. With the Homeroom Contest as incentive, and many small prizes through out the year, the students really embrace this one! We are now providing Collection Sheets for the students to glue or tape the Box Tops to. There is a new one each month. While it is not necessary to use the collection sheets...if they are used, every child turning one in will get a small ‘thank you’ prize. The sheets help immensely when it comes time to organize & submit the Box Tops to General Mills for payment.

2. Join the Box Tops for Education Booster Club. All you have to do is go online to www.boxtops4education.com and register, designating Sylvio J Gilbert Elementary School as your beneficiary. By registering, you’ll not only receive information on Box Tops contests & bonus opportunities, but you’ll get access to money-saving coupons, easy mealtime solutions, samples of free products & more. It’s absolutely free & you’ll help Gilbert qualify for Bonus Box Tops. These Box Tops points are automatically credited to our school when you register. Remember you are welcome to join the chat group for Gilbert’s fundraisers & be the first to know about all the new happenings at Box Tops. See the last link on this page.

3. Shop through the Box Tops Marketplace. The Box Tops 4 Education Program has a Marketplace. Logging on to their website www.boxtops4education.com and doing your online shopping through their portal garners rebates for Gilbert. You can earn 4% to 25% rebates from your purchases for Gilbert. Consistently throughout the years Box Tops has had the highest rebate rate of any rebate program. Take Oriental Trading for example. Many of you buy classroom & party-favors there. So, when placing your Oriental Trading order, log onto Box Tops first & click on the Marketplace tab at the top of the page. Then click any online store & do your shopping for Gilbert.

4. Order Books for your children with the Box Tops Book Club. We send home a flyer once ever 6 weeks or so. Each grade has its own selection, which is age and grade appropriate. Every book on the order form has Box Tops points assigned to it. When the order is submitted to the company, all the Box Tops Points earned are automatically credited to Gilbert’s account. So ordering books through Box Tops not only encourages your child to read, but will help earn funds for Gilbert as well.

Please note: Though Box Tops still lists the use of a ‘Box Tops Visa Credit Card’ as a way to earn funds for our school, it has in fact been discontinued.

· Campbell’s Labels 4 Education - Save the UPCs

For this fundraiser we earn points toward the purchase of various products from Campbell’s School Supply Catalogue. We must collect the UPCs now...not the front of the label. Some UPCs are worth 1 point some are worth 5 points. Goldfish UPCs, V8 & Prego covers are also worth points. Check out the “Eligible Products” list found at:

The Boston Red Sox & the Hood Milk Company have teamed up to bring us a great way to earn $$ for Gilbert. Look for Hood Light Block Bottle Cap with the Red Sox logo or any cap off of any Hood light block bottle! We earn 5¢ for every cap you collect, up to $10,000! The school that redeems the most caps per student also wins a visit from a Boston Red Sox player! How is that for incentive?

Look for Tyson Products with the Project A+ logo. Save the part identified by the “1, 2, 3 program steps”. Each label is worth 24¢ in cash for Gilbert.

· Shaw’s Receipt Rewards Program - Receipts

This is a new one for Gilbert. All you have to do is shop at Shaw’s and send your Receipt to Gilbert with your child! Shaw’s will give is 1% of the total value of every receipt we collect! How easy is that?

· Hannaford Helps Schools Program - Receipts

Shopping at Hannaford’s Whitten Road location is what you do to help make this fundraiser work. But the Hannaford receipts are a bit different than the Shaw’s receipts. With Hannaford, when you check out, if you have purchased eligible products during specific days during the school year, the cashier will give you a receipt for $3 $6 or $9. Send it to school or drop it in the collection box right at the store. We will provide more information as this program comes due.

· Cell Phone Recycle Program &

· Inkjet Cartridge Recycle Program

We are collecting empty inkjet cartridges & old cell phones to be recycled for cash for Gilbert. The phones serve a dual purpose...recycling them is a quick & environmentally friendly way to earn money for our school & keep the toxic metals out of our landfills. And the company we send them to, reuse the phones by cleaning & re-formatting them & provide them free of charge to women’s shelters & the elderly for 911 calls. You donate old cell phones to Gilbert. We send them to the company in a box with a prepaid label that they have provided & they send us money. That is as simple as it can get. The same with the inkjet cartridges...they are also refilled & reused. We are paid up to $3.60! All you have to do is drop them at Gilbert.
