2. Call to Order:
3. Pledge of Allegiance:
4. Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent Reports:
Mr. Anastasio reported that all three days this week were spent dealing with the impact of COVID on faculty, staff, students and schools. It is a very difficult and time-consuming process. Mr. Anastasio explained the process and explained why it is handled differently from one school building to another. He said to be considered a “close contact” you have to come into close contact with a “positive” COVID case. Mr. Anastasio said there has been discussions around a remote instruction week after the upcoming holidays to minimize the potential impact of the holidays on the health of faculty, staff and students. Some school districts are thinking about having remote instruction only from Thanksgiving until after the first of the year. Mr. Anastasio recommends we have remote instruction the week following Thanksgiving.
Ms. Grondin said when an individual tests positive for COVID, the DOE assigns a case manager and the school department along with the DOE work together on what is considered a close contact. She also works with the CDC on decision making. She shared the chart they use and information that is gathered for tracking. She and Mr. Anastasio regularly meet with staff so they can ask questions and be updated.
Motion to amend the agenda to include a motion to approve the recommendation of the Superintendent to go fully remote the week after Thanksgiving.
