FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING
January 11, 2021

Motion by Jennifer Dumond to nominate Kevin Lamoreau as chair.  Mr. Lamoreau declined the nomination. 

Motion by Staci Fortunato to nominate Jennifer Dumond as chair, second by Kevin Lamoreau, so moved 3-0.

 1.  Report from Maureen Thompson regarding the Nutrition Program 

Maureen Thompson was unable to attend the meeting.  She will present her report at the next Finance Committee meeting. 

2.  Update – Coronavirus Relief Funds 1 and Coronavirus Relief Funds 2 

The CARES Act Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief Funds (ESSERF) were awarded to the ASD in the spring of 2020 in the amount of $751,461.16.  It was a grant and certain criteria had to be met and invoices submitted for approved items for reimbursement.  Initially, the money did not have to be spent until September of 2022. 

Corona Relief Funds 1, in the amount of $2,515,517.67, had to be spent and items in place by December 30, 2020.  The money was used for technology for remote learning, ventilation, long term subs, and social workers. 

Corona Relief Funds 2, in the amount of $2,324,485.57, was awarded in September and an approved plan for the funds had to be in place in 3-4 weeks with all items in house by December 30, 2020.  The deadlines for the funds were changed to June 30, 2022 for the CARES Act and June 30, 2021 for the CRF Funds. 

In the second round of ESSERF Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief Funds, the ASD will receive approximately $3,000,000 and those funds will need to be expensed by Sept. 30, 2023. 

Kathy Casparius, Business Manager, gave an overview of the funds the ASD was awarded, how the money was spent and the balance in each fund.
