PERSONNEL COMMITTEE MEETING

1. Exit Surveys – Discussion
Everyone who leaves the Augusta School Department is offered an opportunity to complete an exit survey. The surveys are generally positive. There were comments on some surveys about mentors. Heather Gauthier, who is the mentor trainer, said every teacher who is new to the district and new to teaching is assigned a mentor. Committee member Jennifer Dumond made a suggestion of giving new Cony employees a map of the building. There were also comments about the large amount of paperwork required of teachers. Mr. Anastasio explained that much of the paperwork is mandated by the DOE.
2. Administrator Employment Application – written response options
Board member Pia Holmes asked to change some questions on the Administrator application form. The committee discussed the options that were submitted and chose two questions from the attached list.
3. Updated Student Count – Elementary Schools
Mr. Anastasio said class sizes are where we expected them to be. One of the goals of the administrative team is to continue the process of lowering class sizes and it will be a discussion point for next year’s budget.
The committee discussed hiring a long-term substitute for an administrator who will be out for approximately nine weeks. It was decided to continue the discussion at the Finance Committee meeting.
