PERSONNEL COMMITTEE MEETING
May 4, 2020
7:30 p.m. 

Committee Members Present:  Kevin Lamoreau-Chair; Christopher Clarke, Pia Holmes 

Board Members Present:  Jennifer Dumond, Staci Fortunato, Edward Hastings, Kati McCormick, Amanda Olson 

Administrators Present:  James Anastasio, Donna Madore, Kathy Casparius, Troy Alexander, Teresa Beaudoin, Nicholas Gannon, Heather Gauthier, Sarah Landry, Monique Roy, Kim Silsby, Theresa Violette, Susan Walters 

1.  Appoint a chairperson 

Motion by Christopher Clarke to nominate himself as chair, second by Kevin Lamoreau.  Motion failed 2 – 1.  Yea – Christopher Clarke, Nays – Pia Holmes, Kevin Lamoreau 

Motion by Pia Holmes to nominate Kevin Lamoreau as chair, second by Kevin Lamoreau, so moved 2-1. Yeas – Pia Homes, Kevin Lamoreau, Nay – Christopher Clarke 

Motion by Christopher Clarke to amend the agenda to discuss a curriculum coordinator position as item #3, second by Pia Holmes.  Motion failed 2-1. Yea – Christopher Clarke; Nays – Pia Holmes, Kevin Lamoreau.  

2.  Assistant Superintendent position

Mr. Anastasio said the reason this is on the agenda is because the current assistant superintendent has resigned and it was requested that we take a look at the position.  Mr. Anastasio feels there is a need for an assistant superintendent and curriculum coordinator is a major component of that position.  Many administrators spoke of the importance of having an assistant superintendent, the reasons why and they feel the position is invaluable.  Committee member Holmes said she understands the position of assistant superintendent is extremely valuable but feels it would be better for potential applicants if it were pared down to two positions, i.e., assistant superintendent/personnel director or assistant superintendent/curriculum coordinator.  A discussion followed.  Motion by Christopher Clarke to approve the job description as written, second by Pia Holmes, so moved 3-0. 

Motion by Christopher Clarke to table the remaining items on the agenda till the next meeting, second by Pia Holmes, so moved 3-0. 

Meeting adjourned at 8:28 p.m.
