POLICY COMMITTEE MEETING
January 6, 2020
6:30 p.m. 

Committee Members Present:   Staci Fortunato-Chair; Pia Holmes, Kati McCormick

1.  Review policy GBCA:  Staff Conflicts of Interest

           Attachment 1 

The committee chair read examples of other school policies regarding staff conflicts of interest and a discussion followed.  Of concern to the committee is the “employment” paragraph in our current policy.  Ms. Madore will look at the language from the three policies from the schools mentioned and bring back three versions to the next meeting.  Motion by Kati McCormick to table policy GBCA until the next meeting, second by Pia Holmes, so moved 3-0. 

2.  Review policy KHD - Augusta School Department Media Rights Application and Agreement

          Attachment 2 

The committee discussed the policy.  The consensus is that it is a worthwhile policy – it outlines expectations, sets limits and rules, and protects students from unkind comments.  It makes sense and it is well-intended. Hockey was unintentionally left out and will be added. The fee was discussed and it was recommended that it be an annual application fee of $25 based on school year.  The policy will be revised and brought back to the next policy committee meeting. 

Motion by Staci Fortunato to table the policy, second by Pia Holmes, so moved 3-0.
