Kimberly Martin

Oath of Office
January 2011

I am the mother of 2 kids in the Augusta School Department (Hussey and Cony), and currently work part-time as the Office Administrator for the Augusta First Church of the Nazarene.   I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, and held a K-3rd grade Teaching Certification in the state of Pennsylvania.  Before having children, I taught Preschool and, then, worked as Childcare & Day Camp Director, for a branch of the YMCA of Greater Boston.  In that position, I oversaw Toddler/Preschool Daycare, Elementary/Jr. High After-school Care and 2 preschool-age Summer Day Camps.  Since my children were born, I have continued to be involved in working with preschool & school-age children through various volunteer opportunities in our community.  In addition, I spent 7 years working part-time at Sylvan Learning Center as a Reading, Math, Study Skills, and SAT Prep tutor, serving all school-age children (K-12.).  I have 4 years of experience as an At-Large Member of the Augusta School Department Board of Education, and am looking forward to my new role as Board Chair!
I grew up in Fayette, and returned to Maine in 2004, when we bought our home here in Augusta.  I thoroughly enjoy living in the city of Augusta, and choose to be involved in keeping it a great place to live.  I welcome any questions or comments from Augusta residents, and hope that my time on the School Board will result in positive results for our students, teachers, and neighborhoods.
