Online Requesting Instructions

You can now request books and manage your library account online through Minerva, our library card catalog!  You should have received a library card barcode number that your school library has generated for you.  You will need this number if you want to take advantage of this service.  If you would like hands-on practice using this service and brushing up on your Minerva searching skills, please feel free to make an appointment with Jennifer Lewis, K-12 Librarian for a one on one tutorial.

How to request a book in Minerva:

  1. Go to a computer that can access the Internet.
  2. Type in the URL http://minerva.maine.edu/ to access Minerva, our card catalog.
  3. Find a book you would like to order.  Make sure it is a circulating title and says “available” not “in library use only”.
  4. Click on the “request” button.
  5. Enter your name (just as it appears on your library card) and your barcode number.
  6. Press the “submit” button at the bottom right of the screen.
  7. You will then get a confirmation screen saying that your request has been successful and where to pick it up.
  8. When the book comes to your library, your school’s Library Ed. Tech will notify you.
  9. When you are done, return it to your library.  We will handle it from there.

  • You can still e-mail us requests or ask your school’s Library Ed. Tech if you are having trouble or prefer to talk with a real person.
  • Remember, Lithgow Library offers free library cards to Augusta School Department staff.  They also have Online Requesting and Lending services available.
