English Language Learners

Greetings from the High School/Middle School ELL (English Language Learners) Department!

Dear parents,
My name is Maria Elena Johnson.  I am the grades 7-12 ELL Coordinator and grades 9-12 ELL teacher at Cony High School.  In our ELL classrooms at Cony, our students will learn to read, write, listen, and speak in English and strengthen those skills using a variety of techniques and classroom activities.

Our department consists of three teachers:  myself in the high school, teaching Intermediate learners, Ms. Micole Moore in the high school as well, teaching Novice and Emerging learners, and Ms. Susan Mallon in the middle school.  We are a strong and caring group of teachers and we will do the utmost to ensure a high standard of learning for your children.

We have each contributed resources that can be used at home.  We kindly ask that you visit our ELL resource page to discover many useful sites that you may access to continue stimulating English language acquisition with your children.  We hope that our work providing these resources will be valuable to you.

There are no expectations or requirements associated with this information.  Our first priority is the health and wellbeing of all of our students and families.  If you have specific questions, please contact your  teacher or principal.

The Maine Department of Education has put together a list of resources for our state.  Please see this link:
