FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES

AGENDA ITEMS DISCUSSED: 

 

 

  1. Financial statements.  Mr. Jurdak reviewed the statements for the four months ended October 31, 2006.  Statements and minutes of the Finance Committee may be viewed on line at http://www.augustaschools.org/schboard/schoolboardopen.htm

 

  1. Budget to actual wage comparison.  Mr. Jurdak presented the Committee with a summary analysis reflecting a savings of approximately $131,000 of salary and benefits.  In prior years the savings have ranged between $125,000 and $200,000.  This savings is used in future years to offset needs from taxes.

 

  1. Auction.  Dr. Brown and Mr. Jurdak informed the Committee that Farrins Country Auction has been retained to auction off the remaining contents in the former high school building.  The auction is scheduled for November 18, 2006.  Mr. Farrin will be advertising in several publications.  It was suggested that the Administration contact theaters, restaurants, other schools etc and work to advertise as much as possible this event.

 

  1. Proposed policy for foreign exchange students.  This item was presented by Superintendent Brown to the Education Committee members present.  There were many suggestions offered and Dr. Brown will rework the wording and present to the Education Committee at a later date.

 

  1. Next meeting – Monday December 4, 2006, 5:00 PM – Superintendent’s Conference room at Hussey Elementary School.
