FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES

OTHERS PRESENT: Superintendent Connie Brown, Food Service Director Barbara Nichols and Business Manager James Jurdak

 

AGENDA ITEMS DISCUSSED:

 

1.   Hodgkins lunch program and ala carte offerings – Mrs. Nichols continues to work with the Middle School kitchen manager and staff to provide nutritional information on those items offered ala carte.  She will continue to work on this to ensure that the students are being offered items that meet nutritional criteria.

 

2.   Expenditure categories to be reported – Mr. Jurdak did not have an update on utilities as the winter season has not begun.  The actual cost of replacement staff versus the amount budgeted will be computed and presented to the Committee in November.  Dr. Brown reminded the Committee that the School Department’s legal counsel will meet with the full Board on Wednesday to discuss pending matters.

 

3.   New Cony High School lettering – Mr. Jurdak reported that he met with Mr. Pucciarelli and the lettering was ordered earlier in September, the vendor expects delivery this week and will coordinate with Mr. Pucciarelli to install these before the end of October.

 

4.   CATC renovation status –Dr. Brown, Mr. Jurdak, Mr. Pucciarelli and Mr. Phair met last week to discuss how to proceed.  It was decided that the difference between the bid and the funds available was too great.  Mr. Phair will meet with his Staff to discuss ideas to use the funds donated by Mrs. George.  He will update Dr. Brown.

 

5.   Financial statements for three months ended September 30th were presented.  We have completed the first quarter of the fiscal year and to date one item of concern.  Revenues are running as budgeted, with tuition being billed in November for the first quarter.  Once the first quarter is billed an estimate, of both high school and technical center, annual tuition will be presented to the Committee.
