2. In-House Recruit – Athletic Director:
Dr. Brown recommended that the School Department conduct an in-house recruit for the Athletic Director’s position. After a brief discussion, the Personnel Committee agreed that if no suitable candidate is found, the School Department will then do an external recruit.

Sharing of Curriculum
Coordinator’s Services:
Dr. Brown reported
that Mr. Terry Despres, the Superintendent for MSAD #36 (
The Committee
concluded that it would respectfully decline MSAD #36’s invitation and continue
to search for a Curriculum Coordinator whose duties would be exclusively those
of the Augusta School Department.
4. Superintendent’s Office Staffing:
Dr. Brown reported to the Personnel Committee that one of the Accounts Payable staff has taken a position within City Services. She also noted that, should the Augusta School Department vote to join with the Georgetown School Department, she may return to the Personnel Committee with a recommendation regarding moving individuals to salaried positions. Additionally, she informed the Personnel Committee that, effective with the close of the 2007-2008 school year, the Superintendent’s offices would be served by an automated phone system.
The hours that the office will be open are also likely to be reduced. The current hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is likely that the new hours will be 8:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
1. Salary
and Benefits Package for the Superintendent and Business Manager:
It was moved by Willie Emerson, seconded by Sue Dowling, to enter into Executive Session to negotiate salary and benefits for the Superintendent and Business Manager.
At 6:45 p.m., it was moved by Willie Emerson, seconded by Sue Dowling, to return to Public Session. It was then moved by Willie Emerson, seconded by Sue Dowling, that the Personnel Committee recommend to the Board of Education a salary and benefits increase for the Superintendent and Business Manager comparable to that received by the Augusta Administrators’ Association. The vote was 2-0.
