[Note:  Below items are in the order in which they were discussed.]

2.  In-House Recruit – Athletic Director:

Dr. Brown recommended that the School Department conduct an in-house recruit for the     Athletic Director’s position.  After a brief discussion, the Personnel Committee agreed that if             no suitable candidate is found, the School Department will then do an external recruit.

3.  Sharing of Curriculum Coordinator’s Services:

Dr. Brown reported that Mr. Terry Despres, the Superintendent for MSAD #36 (Livermore and Livermore Falls), asked if the Augusta School Department was interested in sharing the services of a Curriculum Coordinator.  The Personnel Committee discussed the merits of sharing services with MSAD #36, the current workload for the Curriculum Coordinator, and the loss of opportunity to select an individual to fill this position.

The Committee concluded that it would respectfully decline MSAD #36’s invitation and continue to search for a Curriculum Coordinator whose duties would be exclusively those of the Augusta School Department.

4.  Superintendent’s Office Staffing:

Dr. Brown reported to the Personnel Committee that one of the Accounts Payable staff has taken a position within City Services.  She also noted that, should the Augusta School Department vote to join with the Georgetown School Department, she may return to the Personnel Committee with a recommendation regarding moving individuals to salaried positions.  Additionally, she informed the Personnel Committee that, effective with the close of the 2007-2008 school year, the Superintendent’s offices would be served by an automated phone system.

The hours that the office will be open are also likely to be reduced.  The current hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  It is likely that the new hours will be 8:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

It was moved by Willie Emerson, seconded by Sue Dowling, to enter into Executive Session to negotiate salary and benefits for the Superintendent and Business Manager.
