Consolidation of City and School Department IT Services:
Dr. Brown presented a joint recommendation from Mr. Jurdak and herself regarding the consolidation of the City’s Municipal and School Information Technology Departments. The School Department has had several preliminary meetings to discuss the possible consolidation of services, which would result in one IT Department for the City. It would reduce one administrative position and fold all of the IT services under one umbrella. Preliminary estimates of the savings to the City are approximately $40,000-$60,000 per year. The Personnel Committee discussed the recommendation and supported its concept.
