AMERICA'S BOATING COURSE 3

Offered by the Kennebec River Sail and Power Squadron, this 8 week course covers Boat Handling, Trailering, Aids to Navigation, Marine Radio Usage, Navigation Rules, Personal Watercraft Operation and Dealing with Adverse Conditions and Emergencies. Also included are Knots and Lines, Anchoring, the use of Marine Charts, Piloting and Determining Position. Fee of $55 includes book and materials and is to be paid to the instructor the first night of class.

BASIC LIFE SUPPORT FOR HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS

The Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers classroom course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. This course is for healthcare professionals, direct care workers, day care providers, and those who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. The course is also for community members that are ready, willing and able to offer a hand during a crisis.

This 45 minute Circuit Training Class is a great way to get your heart pumping, keep it pumping, and never get bored! Let Deidre motivate you through this pre designed circuit to give you a total body workout and leave you feeling fantastic! Stations include Battle ropes, Bosu Ball, hula hoop, jump rope, Reebok Step, Urban Rebounder, ladders, Simply Fit Board, and more. Modifications can be shown on all exercises to avoid further issues on backs, knees, and other problem areas. You will need to bring sneakers, work out attire, and water. All ages and levels are welcome!

DON'T GET PUSHED AROUND

Do you have trouble dealing with interpersonal conflict?  Are you one of those people that get pushed around or has trouble asserting yourself?  Do people walk all over you?  If so, this class is for you. In this course, participants will learn how to deal with being pushed around both physically and inter-personally. We will study the physical act of controlling (and being controlled) by pushing/pulling.  We will translate the skills necessary to regain control in that type of physical altercation into how to respond when someone is trying to push us to do something we don’t feel comfortable with in every day life. Participants should come in comfortable clothes. Course is designed for teenagers and adults.

If you are looking for a challenge and to improve your fitness level, this class is for you. Working with fit balls, med balls, dumbbells, and resistance bands this workout will keep your heart pumping. You will feel stronger and energized and want to come back for more! The workout goes nonstop for 45 minutes and includes squats, lunges, planks, pushups, sit ups, and much more. We make fitness FUN!

Need to improve your strength, balance, and flexibility? This 45 minute class offers toning, core strengthening, and stretching for all levels of ability. Fit ball, dumbbells, medicine balls, resistance bands, and mats are all provided for you! Deidre promises to make fitness FUN! Class will run on Mondays and Wednesdays. Students are allowed to attend two sessions a week.

RULES OF THE ROAD (WATERWAYS) FOR BOATERS

This course provides an explanation with examples of the 37 Rules of the Road for the U.S.  Inland Rules and the International Rules (COLREGS).  It simplifies the sometimes complex law relating to Boat Operation for the Recreational Boater.  It is a starting point for study and preparation for USCG License examination.
