Guidance Announcements

New this year, the FAFSA will become available on October 1, 2016 at FAFSA.gov.

Select and file the 2017-2018 FAFSA, if you will be enrolled in college between July 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018.

Filing the FAFSA is easier than ever - most people can fill out the FAFSA in 30 minutes or less, especially if you are prepared and know where to get help.

Get Ready to File!
If You Don't Have Your FSA ID, Get One Now
The FSA ID is the user name and password students will use to access all Federal Student Aid websites, including FAFSA.gov.
All students need an FSA ID. One parent of a dependent student will also need to create an FSA ID to sign the FAFSA.
We strongly recommend getting your FSA IDs ahead of time. Each FSA ID takes about 10 minutes to create.

Use FAME's FSA ID Information Tracking Sheet to keep track of your FSA ID information.
What Else Will You Need?
For a list of other items you'll need to file the FAFSA, review our checklist, "Get Ready to File the 2017-2018 FAFSA."

Have questions? FAME offers three ways to get help with the FAFSA:
1. Contact a FAME expert:

  • FAME will be offering 23 In-Person FAFSA Help Sessions statewide starting on Wednesday, October 13.
