My name is Kris Gibson, and I am in my first year of teaching fourth grade at Farrington School. I come from a family of Maine teachers reaching back nearly 100 years! In my life, I have worked in the business and legal worlds and spent time as a stay-at-home mom, but eventually realized that I was happiest when helping out in the classrooms of my daughters. I served in various capacities at my their schools, including as a classroom volunteer, and recently transitioned to the teaching profession full-time.
I completed the University of Southern Maine’s Extended Teacher Education Program (ETEP) in May, 2019. I graduated from Colby College with a Bachelor's of Arts in American Studies. Additionally, I completed various Social Studies courses at Temple University in Philadelphia. I even attended architecture classes at the University of Maine, Augusta before moving in the direction of house renovation. With ETEP, I gained valuable skills and experience, and confirmed that my love of learning and interest in working with students could lead to a new career in elementary education.
I live in the woods of Freeport with my husband Dave, a high school history teacher. My two daughters, Hilary and Hadley, have graduated from college and are living, learning, and adventuring in Colorado and Vermont respectively. My step-daughter Alex is enjoying her first year at University of Maine, Farmington where she is studying education. In my free time, I love art museums, great restaurants, and traveling. During the summer, I can be found in my garden, planning our next project around the house, hiking in our acres of woods, or curled up with a good book. In the winter, when not shoveling off decks, I would rather be skiing or snowshoeing. The best way to contact me is by email at email@example.com
