Miss Severy, Kindergarten
My name is Becca Severy, and I am so excited to be teaching at Farrington in kindergarten. This will be my fifth year of teaching. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Maine at Farmington with a degree in Elementary Education with a Concentration in Math in May of 2016.
I grew up in the Augusta area, so I am very familiar with the community. In fact, I went to school at Farrington when I was a kid. It is an amazing feeling to know that I am teaching in the same classroom I went to kindergarten in. Before I started as a classroom teacher, I substitute taught throughout the district. I feel incredibly fortunate to be working with such an amazing group of students, teachers, and community members!
When I am not in the classroom or at school, I love to read, go for walks in nature, and spend time with my family and friends. I have also picked up the hobby of running this past summer! I ran my first 5K this year and am currently training for a 10K. I like to bring the same enthusiasm as I have for running to all aspects of my life. I feel incredibly fortunate and lucky to be a teacher and work with the amazing students that attend this district. It is going to be a great year!
This year will be a little different due to the hybrid learning model. In order to communicate with parents and families when they are not in school, grades K-8 will use the Seesaw app. Here is a link to join the seesaw app for my classroom: https://app.seesaw.me/s/726-730-943 I am still new to this app, but will be available anytime via email or phone if you have any questions. This will be where I post remote learning options, communicate important messages, and send out reminders. Please be sure to sign up as soon as possible.
Please do not hesitate to contact me! I firmly believe that communication with families is key to a happy and successful kindergarten year. I look forward to starting the school year soon! :)
