Hello, my name is Sharon Beaver. I grew up in Detroit, Michigan until I was in 9th grade. A fond memory of that year occurred when Diana Ross sang at my 9th grade dance. A famous singer when she grew up but just a girl from the neighborhood then.
I always wanted to become a nurse and was in the future nurses club. Upon graduation from high school in Wayne, Michigan, I did visit Mercy Nursing College in Detroit, Michigan. While there I was told the nursing students sang in a choir that practiced Thursday evenings. When I went home I was more excited about that choir than anything else. In high school I was in the Madrigals, Concert Chorus, and several musicals. Yes, music seemed like a good fit. I chose a career in music then and there.
I received my Bachelor of Music Education, and Master of Music Education degrees from Northern Michigan University.
Mr. McWilliams, a former principal at the “old” Farrington School was visiting his nephew in Middleton, MA. He mentioned he needed a good music teacher. I was visiting his nephew at the time and looking for a music job; my ears wiggled with excitement. I applied for the position and was thrilled to begin my teaching career at Farrington, Williams, and Hussey Schools. Teaching children and seeing their love for music grow has been very rewarding. I feel very fortunate to teach in Augusta since January, 1973.
I am at Gilbert School on Mondays and Tuesdays. Wednesday through Friday you will find me at Farrington School. If you wish to contact me for any reason please E-mail me at: email@example.com, or phone Farrington School: 626-2480, or Gilbert School: 626-2491. If you would like to share your music talents with our students or specifically your child’s class I would love to hear from you also. Thanks so much!
