Mrs. Bechard's Sixth Grade

Room 2

Bechard_MG_3299Welcome to 6th grade with Mrs. Bechard. I am very excited to be starting another school year at Hussey Elementary School! I began my time in the Augusta School Department in 2012 as a student teacher and embarked on my own teaching career here the very next year in 2013. I began my time at Farrington Elementary and was there for two years and have been a teacher at Hussey Elementary since. I received my Bachelor's Degree from The University of Maine at Orono where I studied Elementary Education with a concentration in science. I earned my Master's Degree in Literacy from Walden University in 2015.

Working with young minds has always been a passion of mine. In addition to teaching I enjoy dancing, reading, and spending time with my husband, son, daughter, two dogs, and many chickens and ducks.

Come visit again soon!

My mission as your child's teacher:

My mission as an educator is to see a reflection of myself in my students as they leave my care as compassionate, creative, honest, trustworthy, patient, individuals who face any challenge they experience with a positive attitude and a sense of determination that cannot be tamed. When my students leave my classroom with these attributes, I will know that I have been an effective teacher because it will mean I have successfully practiced these skills myself and served as a role model for them to have learned from. As Steven Grant explains, my impact on my students is profound; “Year after year, your grit, spirit, and dedication make a difference. Because you survive, America’s public school students gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to thrive – not just today, but for a lifetime” (Grant, 2013).
