Erin Whitish, Fifth Grade

Hello Everyone!

My name is Erin Whitish.  I am a fifth grade teacher at Lillian Parks Hussey Elementary. I enjoy working with children and helping them reach for their dreams through their education.  My classroom is based on mutual respect between the teacher and student.  I am working diligently to meet the needs of each student, while still establishing a fun learning environment!
I graduated from University of Southern Maine in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation, specializing with adolescents at risk.  I completed my internship at the Adolescent Recovery Program in Waterville, Maine.  I also played field hockey for four years at USM.  After working at different organizations such as Spring Harbor Hospital, group homes, Portland Parks and Recreation, and G.E. Money Bank, I finally discovered my passion was for teaching in the public schools!  Most of my experience has been with RSU 1 for four years and Winslow for three years, grades kindergarten through fifth grade.  During my time as an Education Technician, I completed courses through Endicott College for my teaching certificate. I am now a proud teacher of the Augusta School System and hope to further my career here.  Thank you and I look forward to getting to know all of you this school year!
