Heather Gauthier- Principal

I have been in education going on 20 years.  Eighteen of those years have been in the city of Augusta.  I began in Augusta as a 6th grade teacher for four years and then 7th grade for two years.  After receiving my Masters in Literacy Education with a Literacy Specialist Certification in 2004, I became the District Literacy Mentor for teachers 7-12.  For three years, this was my role which piqued my interest in leadership and administration.  I received my Certificate of Advanced Study (C.A.S) in Educational Leadership in 2010.   For two years, I was the Cony Assistant Principal for grades 7 and 8.

I am proud of my role as the Lincoln Elementary School Principal.  I am excited for the new opportunities that each new school year brings.  I love working with the students, staff, parents, and community of Lincoln.  As I begin my seventh year in this role, we will continue to work on increasing student achievement in the areas of reading, writing, and math and also ensuring that students have the best education possible.  This year, we will move towards implementing the practices of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS).  This school wide concept includes establishing consistent behavior expectations for all students in key areas throughout the building.  It allows for the transfer of these expectations due to staff utilizing common language and expectations.

When I am not in school, I enjoy curling up with a good book to get lost in another story.  One of my guilty pleasures is collecting books by my favorite authors.  Sometimes, I have more books than time to read!  I also enjoy spending time with my husband and walking my dog.  For our summer time fun, we have become avid campers and love trying out new campgrounds.  The best part of camping is relaxing by the fire, hearing the sounds of the lake.
