Hello, my name is Brittany Porter and I am the newest addition to the Pre-Kindergarten team at Gilbert Elementary School. I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to help children learn and grow over the school year. I grew up right here in Augusta, Maine and even went to Gilbert Elementary School. I graduated from Cony High School in 2010. Then in May 2014 I graduated Cum Laude from the University of Maine at Farmington with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with certifications to teach Birth - Age 5 and Pre-K - third grade. Before taking my position here at Gilbert, I worked at the James H. Bean Elementary School in the Special Education department. I have also worked for the Kennebec Valley YMCA for the past nine years in the Learning Center as well as in membership services. For the past four summers, I have run the Summer Pre-K program there and loved every minute of it. My true passion is to work with children in the same community I grew up in. I am confident that my experiences in being able to observe, instruct, and engage with a wide age variety of children has given me the skills to be a successful, caring, competent and welcoming teacher. In my spear time I enjoy being outside, camping, reading, shopping and spending time with my friends, family and new husband. Please feel welcome to contact me anytime by email firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone 207-626-2491 ext. 3609 if you have any questions.
