My name is Dylane Saylor and this is my second year as the head teacher of the student support program for grades 2-4. I am originally from Florida, but my family moved to Augusta in 2007, and I graduated from Cony High School in 2013. I continued my education at the University of Maine at Farmington where I received a degree in special education with a minor in child and adolescent health. This past summer I took part in a yoga teacher training course and am now a certified instructor. I have since implemented the yoga practice in my classroom to encourage a calm body and mind. Along with yoga, I teach my students about mindfulness in my social skills lessons to help them understand why we do the things we do and how to control the way we react. My classroom is a safe, calm, and quiet space for students to come when they are feeling overwhelmed in the general education setting. In addition to teaching I am also a coach for our Girls On The Run team here at Gilbert! In my free time I like to do anything outdoors, especially with my two dogs!
