My name is Michelle Michaud; this year will be my 5th year at Sylvio Gilbert Elementary School as the School Counselor. This is my 26th year working as a Guidance Counselor in schools. Over the years, I have had the amazing opportunity to work with students from Pre-Kindergarten through college! Along the way, I have learned that I LOVE working with students in elementary schools!
Being a School Counselor is so much fun, I have the opportunity to meet students during classroom lessons, at Lunch Bunch, in small skill building groups, individually to support them with things that are on their minds and , of course, all around our school. Every day of my work week is different, and I love the variety.
I graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington with a degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, went on to the University of Maine at Orono for a Master’s degree in School Counseling and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership. Over the years, as I have been taking classes I figured out the I LOVE to learn new things, being in a school helps me do that EVERYDAY!
When I am not in school spend time with my family and friends. I love to be outside, so most of my adventures involve hiking, biking, gardening, swimming, fishing (well, actually I read a good book while Mr. Michaud catches the fish) and my favorite actively of all, snow skiing.
