Hi Everyone! My name is Sarah Duran and I am the Resource Room Teacher here at Gilbert Elementary. I provide reading, writing and math instruction to students who receive special education services in grades K-6. This is my 11th year working in the education field, and my 4th year teaching in the Augusta.
I grew up in Skowhegan and graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington in 2009. Since graduating, I have worked in a variety of educational settings, primarily behavior support programs, including Woodford’s and Spurwink. I also taught K-4 Special Education at Hartland Elementary School before coming to Augusta.
I come from a family immersed in the education- my husband is a high school social studies teacher, my brother is a middle school guidance counselor, my sister-in-law teaches first grade, and my father is a school board member in another district.
During the summer, my husband and I have a wood-fire pizza business that keeps us quite busy. When we’re not throwing dough or teaching, we love to travel around New England, enjoy the outdoors, and spend time with our pugs, Hanky and Goose.
If you have any questions about the resource room or the special education process in general, feel free to email me at email@example.com.
