AUGUSTA BOARD OF EDUCATION

  1. Kathleen Wall, R.N. 21st Century reported to the Board how the funding is proceeding for the program.  

 

  1. Mrs. Heather Gauthier, Assistant Principal of Cony High School and three students; Sydney Cheever; Autumn Brann; and Richard Clarke (RJ) gave the Board reviews of “A Christmas Carol” that they attended in Portland, ME.

8)      Recognitions: 

Dr. Brown and the Augusta School Board recognized Board Member Nathanael Rende and Suzanne Allarie-Dowling on their retirement from the Augusta School Board.

 

9)      Student Council Report:  Student Council representative Nathaniel Nalley informed the Augusta School Board that elections were held on December 13, 2010 for student council officers.  Mr. Nalley also informed the Board of the formation of a school newspaper at Cony High School.

  1. Mrs. Karla Miller commented that budget meetings with department and building administrators are continuing and are near completion for the development of the 2011-2012 school budget.

16)  Superintendent’s Report:

Dr. Brown updated the Board on the budget process and that the meetings with Department and Building Administrators were almost complete and that she will be presenting the budget to the Board at their Workshop meeting on January 26, 2011.  Dr. Brown also shared with the group that she had been asked to speak at the Kennebec Chamber of Commerce Women’s Luncheon.  Lastly Dr. Brown reminded everyone that students would be returning from school break on January 3, 2011; and wished everyone a safe and happy holiday.

 

17)  Reports from Other School Officials:

Mrs. Michelle Michaud, Principal of Hussey Elementary School informed the Board that a teacher at Hussey Ms. Jen Lewis offered a Photo Workshop that was very well liked.

 

Mr. Paul Vachon, Athletic Director at Cony High School, informed the Board that he had received a donation from Wight’s Sporting Goods in the amount of $200.00.
