The federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) requires an annual assessment of state standards. NCLB also mandates all states, school districts, and schools to provide annual report cards to parents and communities that include Maine Educational Assessment (MEA) data for grades 3-8 and SAT data for grade 11.
Under NCLB, schools must show Adequate Yearly Progress in areas of reading and mathematics. The NCLB Report Card details how students Maine districts and schools are progressing towards being proficient in English Language Arts/Literacy and Mathematics.
The purpose of this letter is to provide access to student performance data and provide insight into what the data is reflecting.
