Hello and thank you for taking the time to check out my page! My name is Steve Vellani and this is my fifth year teaching Physical Education at Lincoln and Gilbert Elementary. It is also my eighth year working in the Augusta School District. The last eight years have been a wonderful experience and I look forward to continuing to learn from and work with the students this year!
It is important to me that each child receives a quality, age-appropriate education in my class. I strive every day to ensure that each of my students is active, learning new skills, and most importantly having fun! In order to do so effectively, students should be coming to PE class with comfortable clothing, sneakers, and a water bottle. Unfortunately, due to the current circumstances surrounding Covid, I will not be allowing students to use or borrow sneakers from my office again this year. Because of this, it is very important they come to class with the proper attire and footwear. Also, I strongly encourage each student to have and bring their own water bottle for easily accessible water breaks.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have throughout the year. The quickest way to reach me is by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. You may also contact me via phone at 207-626-2483 ext. 3926 for Lincoln or at 207-626-2491 ext. 3656 for Gilbert.
Here's what's happening in October!
K-2: For the month of October, students in grades K-2 will be introduced to locomotor movements. They will be building off of previously taught instruction and implementing new skills in a variety of activities. They will also be participating in active games of chase paying close attention to changing directions and spatial awareness.
3-6: Students in grades 3-6 have been working hard on their basketball unit. They have been learning how to properly dribble, utilizing both hands as well as the cross-over. They will be ending their unit with learning how to shoot in a variety of individual and team activities.
