Meeting Notice: Budget Public Hearing Tomorrow
The Augusta City Council will hold a Public Hearing on the proposed Fiscal Year 2027 Budget.
When: Thursday, April 23rd at 6:30 p.m.
Where: City Council Chambers, second floor of Augusta City Hall, 16 Cony Street, Augusta, ME
The proposed budget is available for review at www.augustamaine.gov/budgets
Why this matters:
We want to make sure our school community (students, families, staff, and community members) are aware that this is an important opportunity to be part of the budget conversation. The proposed school budget includes significant changes that affect all our schools, and community input is an important part of the process.

Their excitement and creativity with LEGO robotics has inspired the launch of a new LEGO Robotics After School Club at Farrington, giving students even more opportunities to build, code, and explore.

After testing their first versions, they made improvements for their second editions, changing shapes and sizes to make bigger, better bubbles.
It was a fun, hands-on project where students got to create, test, and improve their own designs.

Students at Farrington Elementary have been using virtual reality (VR) to extend their learning and bring their lessons to life. As teachers across the district pilot a new ELA program, many of the topics students are studying match perfectly with experiences we can explore in VR.
By combining reading and classroom discussions with immersive virtual trips, students are able to see and experience what they are learning about.
Here are just a few of the incredible journeys our students have taken:
3rd Grade: Traveled through the solar system, exploring planets and space
4th Grade: Stepped back in time to experience medieval life, touring castles and imagining what daily life looked like centuries ago.
5th Grade: Dove beneath the waves to study oceans and marine life, observing underwater ecosystems up close.
6th Grade: Took a virtual tour of the Titanic, connecting their historical learning to a memorable experience.
