Capital Area Technical Center September Student of the Month
Capital Area Technical Center is pleased to recognize Allyson Dumont, a senior from Cony High School enrolled in the Pre-Nursing program, as a September Student of the Month.
Allyson says one of her favorite things about the program so far is how close her class has become. “We’ve really bonded and are a tight-knit group,” she explained, noting that their shared passion for a medical career path has helped them connect quickly. Allyson is especially looking forward to her upcoming clinical experiences at the Maine Veteran’s Home and Glenridge, where she will gain valuable hands-on experience.
Outside of school, Allyson has spent summers working at Pine Tree Camp. After two summers as a counselor-in-training, she stepped into the role of full counselor this year. A fun fact about her—she enjoys kayaking, but only when the weather is warm and sunny.
After graduation, Allyson plans to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant while continuing her education to become a Registered Nurse, with an interest in specializing in pediatrics.
Pre-Nursing Instructor, Mrs. Karen Parker praised Allyson’s work ethic and positive attitude. "Allyson comes to class every day ready to learn and support her classmates. She is compassionate, dependable, and truly embodies the qualities we hope to see in future nurses. I know she will make an excellent CNA and go on to be a caring, skilled RN."
