Capital Area Technical Center is proud to recognize Tennyson Tibbetts, a senior from Cony High School, as a January 2026 Professional of the Month.
Tenny is in his second year of the Computer Technology program at CATC, where he has thrived under the guidance of instructor Mr. Mike Fraser. Tenny describes the Computer Tech environment as both professional and fun, noting that the hands-on projects have provided valuable real-world experience and helped prepare him for future career opportunities.
During his first year at CATC, Tenny won the local SkillsUSA Cybersecurity competition and went on to claim the Maine State SkillsUSA Cybersecurity title, advancing to the SkillsUSA National Competition in Atlanta, Georgia. Reflecting on that experience, Tenny shared that his biggest takeaway was realizing he had “more work to do.” He returned this year with renewed focus and determination, fully committing himself to every opportunity the Computer Tech program had to offer.
Tenny has earned both the PCPRO and LinuxPRO industry certifications. He once again captured first place in the local SkillsUSA Cybersecurity competition, achieving the highest score recorded to date. In addition, he has completed four college-level computer courses through the CATC Computer Technology program and is currently enrolled in the University of Maine at Augusta Security Workforce program.
Outside of the classroom, Tenny is a well-rounded student who participates on both the football and lacrosse teams at Cony High School.
Mr. Fraser shared the following about Tenny’s accomplishments and growth:
“Tenny is deserving of recognition as CATC’s Professional of the Month, not only for his achievements, but for the dedication, resilience, and growth he has demonstrated. He has transformed into a leader among his peers, and his continued success reflects the type of professionalism and determination we strive to develop at Capital Area Technical Center.”
After graduation, Tenny plans to continue his education in the fields of cybersecurity and computer science. CATC congratulates Tennyson Tibbetts on this well-earned recognition and looks forward to seeing his continued success.
