Congratulations to the Cony High School Jazz program! Both our Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo scored 94s at their state event and received a silver medal. Savion Naluai was award an individual outstanding soloist award! Arlo Shargo was named the Dale Huff Outstanding soloist for both Jazz Band and Jazz Combo. The Dale Huff Award is given to the top scoring Soloist for both Jazz band and Jazz Combo.
Rekha Goonesekere, a senior at Cony High School, has been selected to receive the 2026 Principal's Award for Cony. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals' Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior's academic achievement and citizenship.
Throughout her years at Cony, Rekha has distinguished herself in the classroom, and as a leader in the school and the community.
Rekha, Principal Liscomb and other award winners and their principals will attend an Honors Luncheon at Jeff’s Catering on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 12:30 p.m.
The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of ten $1,000 scholarships in the names of former Maine principals and MPA Executive Directors: Horace O. McGowan, Richard W. Tyler, and Richard A. Durost.
The Principal's Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine's school administrators. Congratulations to Rekha!

Cony hosted the Central Maine Math League at Cony today. They had 200 kids from 20 schools come together to do math for a couple of hours. Cony came in first in their division. Congratulations to the Cony math team and their coach Josh Poulin.
Cony is proposing moving from the 4x4 schedule to a Red/White Rotating block schedule at the Cony High School. Teachers believe that this change will increase student achievement. Staff believe that students will have more processing time for the content and experience less burnout. A change will reduce learning loss from semester or year-long gaps between classes.
Our HS Student Council hosted a blood drive today at Cony! Thanks to all who donated blood. Thanks to the Student Council and their advisor Angel Sylvester.
