At Gilbert Elementary School
We’re hosting a night that’s perfectly cool!
On March 3, 2026 — oh what a date!
From 5:30 to 6:30 — don’t be late!
We’ll read and we’ll giggle,
We’ll snack and we’ll share,
With stories and cake
And books everywhere!
There’ll be pages that zoom,
And tales that delight,
So bring a small blanket
To sit just right!
It’s FREE for all families — yes, every last one!
So come join the reading,
The laughter, the fun!
We hope you’ll be there,
We hope you’ll all look —
For a Seuss-tastic night
With a cake… and a book! 🎂📖✨

Parents and family members lined the lobby, greeting students with cheers, smiles, and so much excitement as they arrived at school. It was incredible to see how their presence instantly brightened our students’ day and filled the building with positive energy.
We are so grateful for our active, supportive community. Thank you to everyone who showed up and made this morning so special for our students! 💙

We invite you to line up inside the lobby at 8am to give our students a warm and enthusiastic welcome as they arrive to school. Let's make their morning special!
Once students are in class, come to the gym for a coffee to go before starting the rest of your day. We can't wait to see you!

Due to the incoming storm, all Augusta schools and administrative offices will be closed Monday, February 23, 2026. This will be a traditional snow day, not a remote learning day.
Did you know GIlbert School offers the one-of-a-kind Girls on the Run program for 3rd-5th grades? Not only does Girls on the Run inspire kids to set and achieve movement goals, but it unlocks confidence and compassion in girls when they need it most.

Mrs. Hutchinson’s Kindergarten class earned an ice cream party this week for meeting their class goal of following directions. Way to go!
These kindergarteners have shown so much growth this year, and it’s been wonderful to see their hard work, focus, and positive choices paying off. Mrs. Hartill was lucky enough to be invited to join the fun, and Mrs. Loiko was a natural ice cream scooper (is that what you call an ice cream parlor pro? 😉).
A big thank you to Mrs. Hutchinson and Mrs. Loiko for being such awesome educators and for supporting our students every step of the way. We are so proud of our friends for the progress they are making and the great job they continue to do every day! 💙🍨

Families—don’t forget there are Crayola family activities to keep the fun going this weekend. Ask your kiddo if they brought any materials home! Create together and enjoy! 🖍️✨

So much creativity, teamwork, and imagination! We faced the music 🎶, built together 🧱, and embraced our ideas 💡 as students explored, collaborated, and created with enthusiasm and joy. What a fun and inspiring couple of days!

Last week, our 4th through 6th graders had the opportunity to participate in a special workshop all about being a “stage setter” —someone who helps their team and community succeed, even without being in the spotlight.
The keynote was delivered by Trevor Coston, our 8th grade social studies teacher, and the session also included Derek Session, Parker Sergant, Gabi Sousa, and Kevin Phanor. It was an exciting step in building connections between our elementary and middle school students!
Throughout the workshop, students explored important topics such as teamwork, quiet leadership, including others, and how teams are stronger when everyone belongs. They also discussed how mistakes are part of learning, how to support classmates when they struggle, and why choosing kindness matters. Students reflected on identity as well, understanding that each of us is more than one label and that our differences, backgrounds, and strengths all contribute to who we are.
We are especially proud of how well our students represented the values of the Gilbert community during the workshop. Their focus, respect, and thoughtful participation showed exactly what it means to be caring, inclusive, and supportive of one another.
Big takeaways from the day: you don’t need attention to make a difference, confidence grows when we lift others up, and helping each other succeed makes everyone stronger. It was a joy to see our students learning, reflecting, and putting these important lessons into action. We look forward to providing more of these opportunities for our school community.
Thank you for your continued support in helping our students grow as thoughtful, confident, and community-minded young people.
Warmly,
Erin Hartill
Principal, Gilbert School
