Augusta Schools will officially implement a Remote School Day for today, 1/7/2026.

The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and predicted road conditions do not allow for safe travel within a delayed start window.

Students and staff will work from home, and the day will count as an instructional day. Elementary students should refer to their Remote Roadmaps for guidance, while Middle and High School students should check Google Classroom for directions and assignments.

As a reminder, district-level information about Remote School Days can be found at https://www.augustaschools.org/page/remote-school-days

Stay safe, and thank you for your support.

What a treat it was to have the Cony Madrigals with us today! They brought so much joy, energy, and fun through their singing, and it truly made our day. It was especially awesome to see so many former Gilbert students up there performing so confidently and sounding amazing — such a great reminder of what’s possible and what our high school choral program can look like. A big thank-you to Mrs. Whitney for being such a fantastic vocal group leader and for guiding and inspiring these singers. We loved every minute of it!

Our 5th and 6th graders brought so much joy and seasonal spirit to today’s Winter Concert. Their hard work, focus, and enthusiasm were on full display, and it was impossible not to feel a deep sense of pride watching them perform together. The growth from our beginner musicians to our 6th grade band was especially impressive — a clear reflection of their dedication and the guidance they’ve received along the way.

A heartfelt thank-you to our music team for nurturing that progress, and to our families and staff who came to celebrate with us. Moments like this remind us how lucky we are to learn and grow alongside such incredible students. What a wonderful way to welcome the winter season.

Gilbert Elementary had a fantastic musical morning thanks to the Kennebec Performing Arts Company Wind Ensemble! KPAC is made up of a Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Choir, and we were lucky to host the Wind Ensemble today for an energizing and educational performance.

KPAC rehearses in Augusta and performs twice a year—in early December and early May—at Winthrop High School and Cony High School.

✨ Their December concerts are this week!
Friday, 7:00 PM – Winthrop High School
Saturday, 5:00 PM – Cony High School
All three KPAC groups will be performing, with the Wind Ensemble kicking off the concert. Families and community members are invited to attend!

Our students were wonderful audience members and enjoyed hearing highlights of different instruments between songs. A special shout-out to Mrs. Komiega, who was a percussionist in the band, for helping make today’s performance so lively and fun!

Thank you to the KPAC musicians for sharing your talent with us and for your commitment to being involved in the community—we loved having you here!

A special thank you to Mrs. Komiega for helping bring the Community Band to Gilbert today. We are grateful for opportunities like this that inspire our students and bring the arts into our school.

Thank you, KPAC for a memorable morning at Gilbert! 🎵💛

Nov Family Engagement
Our Pre-K learners are loving their new listening stations! These cozy spots have quickly become a favorite part of the day. Students are listening to stories multiple times, talking about what they hear, and truly engaging with the books.

So far, they’ve enjoyed "Corduroy" by Don Freeman and "Squirrel’s Busy Day" by Lucy Barnard. Up next: "Llama Llama Time to Share" by Anna Dewdney!

We love seeing our youngest readers fall in love with stories!
