On Tuesday, Cony High School came alive with the sounds, flavors, and stories of our school community during the ASD’s second annual International Dinner. As organizer Jessica Gurney, our Cultural Liaison and ESOL Teacher, beautifully reminded us in her remarks:
“Cultural differences should not separate us from each other, but rather cultural diversity brings a collective strength that can benefit all of humanity.”
This event was a celebration of the cultures represented across the Augusta schools. Thank you to the German Club, Spanish Club, Cony Madrigals, Augusta Adult and Community Education, Mr. Barley (for those fun salsa dance lessons!), and all the teachers, staff, students, and families who made this night shine.
An extra special thanks goes to Jessica Gurney, whose passion, coordination, and care brought this entire event to life. We can’t wait to see this celebration grow even further, especially with the exciting launch of a cultural program in all four of our elementary schools starting in the fall!
