Augusta School Department

May 1, 2026 Dear Augusta Schools Families, Spring is here - and so is testing season! Maine's state assessments are coming up, and we want you to know how much your support at home truly matters to your child's success. Why It Matters These assessments give us a clear picture of how your child is growing in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science. The results help our teachers better support every student and ensure our programs are working. Our teachers are able to dig into the academic needs of each of our students with these state assessments. How You Can Help It's simple! Make sure your child is in school on testing days, gets a good night's sleep, eats a healthy breakfast, and walks in feeling encouraged. Remind them that this is their chance to show what they know, and that you're proud of them no matter what! Something Fun for the Students! 🎳 We're putting a little extra excitement into testing season this year! Any student who meets their individual growth target, or the state minimum standard, or both will be entered into a drawing to win a free bowling ticket and shoe rental at 1-7-10 Bowling & Sports Center. How cool is that? Our amazing teachers and staff have done everything to prepare your children, now let's cheer them on together! With gratitude and excitement, Mike Tracy Superintendent Augusta School Department
